The Process of Sharing The Journey

When we work on something or start something new, we do not think about sharing the journey. Why? Because we don’t have a flashy life, at least initially. We don’t have a $100,000 car or a million-dollar home. We don’t have a business or a $500,000 salary job. So what’s there to share? That was me a long time ago. Because I didn't have anything interesting to share I didn't, and I decided to wait until I had something to share. But that idea couldn’t be further from the truth. People are interested in your story, people want to know what you are about, and people want to walk this journey with you.

There is a trend where YouTubers and creators share their entire journey. Hubslife, a popular TikTok/short-form content creator, is a simple man showing his corporate life and has amassed a huge following. Sam Sulek, a fitness creator simply shows his workout routine with honest conversations and has gained over 2 million subscribers on YouTube alone. What both these creators have in common is that they are authentic and share their journey. We can relate to living a corporate life and working out, and we can relate to the feelings they go through because we also have walked through it or are currently walking through it. This is why we can relate to them so much.

What are some benefits of sharing your journey? The first benefit is that it leaves a trail behind you. A trail where you can look back and see what you did and how far you come. Also, a trail for others to follow and even help others get to their destination. It also shows your learning experience and how capable you are. By sharing your journey, you can end up teaching how to do what you learned. This shows people you are capable and that you did develop the skills. This can be a great way to network and even lead to job development.

But sharing on the internet isn’t easy, especially if you are an introvert. It can be scary to share what you are doing when you aren’t confident and you just started. To be honest, I am still scared to show what I am doing because I am not confident in what I learned and what I am doing. But I would hear many creators and writers talk about how you should post what you are doing and tweet what you learned that day. And if successful people who have already done it say so, who am I to say no to that? I know it isn’t easy, but I believe if you can keep going and pushing, the results will pay off.

I feel it is only right to share my journey right now. Something people don’t tell you about in college is how to navigate your career, and as I continue this path, there is a part of me that feels like I am not doing what I should be doing. Because of this, I began exploring and looking for a new path. A path that I felt I should be doing. I tried different paths and began looking into other careers. There were times I felt lost, unsure, and defeated. That I was doing something wrong. I thought to myself, "Am I doing it right?" Honestly, I still feel like I'm not doing anything right and question if what I'm doing is right. But it is through faith and letting go to my God, that I can keep going and walking on this path.

Although it was a short story of my journey, it is how I feel and what I am going through right now. A new goal I have is to share my journey and try to document my life through different mediums. I hope this benefits others as well.
